We’re thrilled to announce that our Work-Bench portfolio company AuthZed has raised a $12M Series A led by General Catalyst.
AuthZed is tackling the growing complexity of user interactions in modern applications, which strains traditional authorization approaches and can lead to security vulnerabilities and bottlenecked development teams.
They address this challenge by delivering enterprise-ready permissions systems at scale, and the popular open-source project SpiceDB, a Google Zanzibar-inspired database for storing and computing permissions data, with over 4,500 stars on GitHub and over 2,300 members in their Discord community.
“Behind every digital interaction lies a permission: negotiating access decisions between entities. Federation is a fundamental part of what makes the internet an interesting place, and helping our customers' end users securely share their most sensitive information with confidence and precision drives us forward.” - Jake Moshenko, AuthZed CEO.
AuthZed’s ARR has more than tripled each year, with customers including Canva, Turo, HackerRank, Clear Street, Evisort, SpotAI, and Avise, as well as open source contributions from engineers at organizations like GitHub and Reddit.
With such clear signs of product-market fit, we’re excited to see co-founders Jake Moshenko, Joey Schorr, and Jimmy Zelinskie, and the entire AuthZed team put their foot on the accelerator! 🧑🚀 🚀
