Enterprise Weekly #418: ChatGPT Plugs Into the Web, Data Happy Hour, and More
ChatGPT just got another upgrade!
For the first time, the tech will have access to third party plug-ins such as Expedia, OpenTable, Kayak, and Zapier, databases, and data from the internet. This will massively expand its capabilities beyond its current training data, which is limited to the end of 2021. In their announcement blog post, the company compared the plug-ins to being ChatGPT’s “eyes and ears” 👀. While only being made available to “a small set of users” prior to rolling out larger-scale API access, check out the demo:
But as we’ve said before, data privacy remains top of mind for enterprises debating to implement generative AI. That continued to prove out earlier this week when OpenAI shut down ChatGPT to fix a bug in one of its open-source libraries, which was allowing users to read others’ conversation headlines. Furthermore, some are saying ChatGPT-4 is the most unreliable version yet with OpenAI's own website even warning, “ChatGPT sometimes writes plausible-sounding but incorrect or nonsensical answers.”
On the Work-Bench front, we’ve spent a lot of time talking with Fortune 500 executives to learn where the biggest opportunities are for generative AI and foundation models, and where startups might have an advantage over incumbents. While everybody is enamored by the tech’s potential to transform the world, enterprise use cases are still being defined. The key enterprise pain points we’ve heard include protecting against unwanted output (e.g. hallucinations, bias), cost effectively tuning models, implementing strict data access and governance, and determining what capabilities will require new infrastructure versus leveraging current MLOps platforms.
If you’re building in this space, it’s never too early to connect with us as we’d love to meet you to learn more, jam on ideas, and plug you into our enterprise community.
